Cloud computing market taking off

With Vietnam carving out a solid position on the world technology map and with the strong development of digital infrastructure, the country’s cloud computing market is considered one of the fastest growing in ASEAN and the world thanks to digital transformation being accelerated.

The Vietnamese market now has more than 40 businesses providing cloud computing services from providers such as Amazon Web Service (AWS), and the participation of leading Vietnamese technology corporations such as FPT, VNPT, Viettel, and CMC, revealing the country’s vibrancy.

The impact of Covid-19 has resulted in demand in Vietnam for cloud computing services growing strongly. With the use of cloud computing services continuing to grow and Vietnamese enterprises moving to such services, the market will reach $2.3 billion by 2025.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Nguyen from the Information Security Department at the Ministry of Information and Communications (MoIC) said that internet data in Vietnam has increased dozens of times over the past decade.

The explosion of Industry 4.0 together with clear strategies and goals from the government regarding digital transformation are key factors shaping trends and promoting the development of cloud computing in the country. Mr. Nguyen also noted that Vietnam is striving to master technologies for the cloud computing market and diversifying types of applications.
