Top 10 localities for exports in 2022

HCMC leads the way in export turnover.

According to the latest annual report on Vietnam’s imports and exports in 2022 released by the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) on April 27, Vietnam’s two largest cities, Ho Chi Minh City and the capital Hanoi, were among the country’s top 10 localities in terms of export turnover.

Ho Chi Minh City led, followed by Bac Ninh, Binh Duong, Thai Nguyen, Hai Phong, Dong Nai, Bac Giang, Hanoi, Phu Tho, and Hai Duong.

Together with Hai Phong and Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Thai Nguyen, Bac Giang, Phu Tho, and Hai Duong provinces are from the north of the country while the remainder are from the south.

This is the seventh year in a row MoIT has compiled the report, which gives an insight into the export of each group of commodities, markets, the utilization of opportunities generated by free trade agreements, and export-import management.

Analysts said the report is warmly welcomed by stakeholders, including associations, State management agencies, and businesses.

The 2022 report provides information on the national import-export strategy for 2023 along with updates on a number of economies joining the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific (CPTPP) and ratifying the deal, and new points in the implementation of trade promotion activities.
