$16 mln irrigation and hydropower project breaks ground in Muong Lat (Central Thanh Hoa province)
This is a very significant project for Muong Lat because it represents the largest investment capital ever seen in the district.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the Ten Tan irrigation and hydropower project in Muong Lat, Central Thanh Hoa province, was held on December 27.
Spanning a total area of more than 14 ha in Muong Lat town and Quang Chieu commune, Muong Lat district, the project has an estimated investment capital of over VND418 billion (more than $16.4 million).
The project aims to construct an irrigation and hydropower system, featuring a hydropower plant with a designed capacity of 12MW. This system will provide irrigation water for approximately 240 ha of agricultural land and to meet water need of around 4,000 residents in the area.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Mai Xuan Liem, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province, highlighted the importance of infrastructure and energy resources for the development of localities, particularly Muong Lat, which faces many challenges.
He emphasized that the primary goal of the project is to meet the living and irrigation water needs of the local population.
"This is a very significant project for Muong Lat because it represents the largest investment capital ever seen in the district, and it is not funded by the state budget," said Mr. Liem.
