A 23.83-km road in northern Hung Yen province that connects the Hanoi-Hai Phong and Cau Gie-Ninh Binh expressways was inaugurated on July 7, the Government News has reported.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the inauguration ceremony.
The four-lane road, built at a total cost of over VND1.77 trillion ($69.63 million), allows vehicles to travel at a maximum speed of 80 kph.
It is aimed at increasing the exploitation of the two expressways and reducing transport pressure for Hanoi.
Along with the main road, Hung Yen is working on the side roads with a total investment of over VND1.4 trillion ($55 million), which are scheduled to complete in September.
PM Chinh said the road, which shortens travel time between Hung Yen and Hanoi as well as regional localities, will create a new development space with new industrial and service areas, reducing the logistics cost for businesses.
He asked relevant ministries and local authorities to consider the upgrade of the road into an expressway by 2025.
