Agro-forestry and fishery production up 3.1% in 9M
The sector's export value hitting $46.28 billion in the period.
The agro-forestry and fisheries sector posted a production value growth rate of 3.1-3.2% in the first three quarters of 2024, according to Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien.
During the nine-month period, the whole country planted 6.93 million ha of rice paddy, up 0.2% year-on-year and harvested 5.4 million ha with a total output of 34 million tons.
Seafood production was estimated at over 7 million tons, a year-on-year rise of 2.4%. Of which, the country harvested more than 4 million tons of aquatic products from aquaculture while exploited seafood output is estimated at over 2.97 million tons.
Regarding forestry, the whole country planted 187,200 ha of forest, a year-on-year growth of 2.5%. Wood exploitation output reached over 16 million cu m, up 7% year-on-year.
In the Jan-Sept period, Vietnam's agriculture, forestry, and fisheries exports reached a new high of $46.28 billion, a 21% increase compared to the same period last year.
