Binh Duong province drives automation and innovation
The demand for factory automation and smart factory technology is rapidly increasing in Binh Duong, noted a foreign investor.
Binh Duong is a province with significant potential, possessing all the necessary factors for the development of industry and services, serving as a growth driver for the Southeast region of Vietnam's South, said Deputy Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Mai Hung Dung.
To maintain this development momentum, he stated that the province has been focusing on enhancing automation in manufacturing industries, transitioning from traditional industrial models to green and smart industries, and creating favorable conditions for enterprises to access and connect for trade cooperation.
“This is not only an inevitable trend but also an important lever that helps businesses not only in Binh Duong but also in other provinces and cities across Vietnam to enhance their competitiveness and achieve sustainable development,” he remarked at the opening ceremony of the Vietnam Automation 2024 exhibition and the Electric Energy Show 2024 in Binh Duong province on September 25.
The activities, jointly held by COEX, KOSMO, and Becamex in conjunction with the Ho Chi Minh City Automation Association (HAuA), run from September 25-29 to showcase advanced technological solutions in the fields of power, energy, and automation.
According to Mr. Dung, South Korean enterprises are currently playing a crucial role in promoting traditional industries in industrial parks and are also involved in the development of professional service industries.
Mr. Dung believes that these connection platforms will drive the transition towards a high-tech industry, scientific technology, and the development of the energy sector through cooperative relationships, supporting businesses in automation and innovation in the new era.
Mr. Lee Dong Ki, President and CEO of COEX Korea, noted that the smart factory and automation market in Vietnam is growing at an average annual rate of over 13%, aligning with the digital transformation policy and the strategy to modernize Vietnam’s manufacturing industry.
Among them, Binh Duong province, with its 30 large industrial parks, stands as one of the key economic areas in the south. The demand for factory automation and smart factory technology is rapidly increasing, he noted.
As of September 2024, Binh Duong province has attracted over 4,354 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects, with a total registered investment capital exceeding $41 billion from 65 countries and territories. Notably, South Korea ranks fifth in terms of investment capital, with nearly 800 projects totaling almost $3.4 billion.
