Central Retail Group has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the College of Foreign Economic Relations under the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT). This partnership aims to build and develop cooperative relationships focused on enhancing the capabilities and strengths of each party in human resource (HR) development for the retail industry.

The Department of Domestic Market (MoIT) notes that the retail market's growth has increased the demand for skilled labor. Unfortunately, a skills gap persists within Vietnam's distribution sector.

There's a lack of qualified workers who meet modern industry standards. Despite the rising educational levels among young people, employers struggle to find candidates with the necessary skills and knowledge required for distribution services.

Addressing this, the goal is to enhance the quality of HR in retail distribution, ensuring professionalism that aligns with the evolving demands of domestic economic development and international trade integration. This focus holds the key to further developing the domestic market.

The cooperation agreement between Central Retail and the College of Foreign Economic Relations stems from a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on November 17, 2022, in Bangkok, Thailand. The MoU outlined collaboration between the MoIT and Central Retail Vietnam for the period 2022-2025.

Mr. Bui Nguyen Anh Tuan, Deputy Director of the Domestic Market Department (MoIT), emphasizes the importance of HR training in retail distribution for domestic trade development.

The Domestic Market Department has proactively coordinated with large Vietnamese distributors to support MoIT-affiliated universities and colleges in retail industry HR training.

"The Department worked with Central Retail and the College of Foreign Economic Relations to develop a specific plan to implement the HR training program in the field of distribution and retail," he added.

"We hope that this cooperation will contribute to the development of the young generation by sharing our knowledge with Vietnamese students studying at the school, to support the building of HR for the retail industry," said Mr. Olivier Langlet, General Director of Central Retail Vietnam. "We also expect that the cooperation will contribute to the sustainable development of HR for Vietnam's retail industry."

Dr. Le Ngoc Trung, Rector of the College of Foreign Economic Relations, believes the partnership will yield practical benefits.

By leveraging the strengths and advantages of both parties, students will gain up-to-date knowledge, quickly develop career competencies, and improve their adaptability within the labor market, ultimately enhancing their job prospects.
