Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son becomes Head of National Steering Committee for ODA, preferential loans

Under Decision No. 249/QD-TTg (Decision 249), signed recently by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son has become the Head of the National Steering Committee for Official Development Assistance (ODA) and Preferential Loans.

Deputy Prime Minister Son replaced his predecessor, former Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang, who has been promoted to a new position as Chairman of the Party  Central Committee’s  Policy and Strategy Commission.

The Government News quoted Decision 249 as reporting that the Steering Committee is responsible for putting forward to the Prime Minister orientations and policies to lure and use ODA and preferential loans in an effective manner.

It will also help the Prime Minister coordinate relevant authorities and localities in preparing and carrying out programs and projects using ODA or preferential loans.

Moreover, it is assigned to collect feedbacks from Vietnamese agencies and sponsors, direct relevant agencies to complete management regulation, and streamline administrative procedures in ODA management and use to boost disbursement of the capital source.
