A program held to promote OCOP (One commune, One product) sales on TikTok has attracted over 300 million views and posted total revenue of more than VND100 billion (more than $4 million) since its inception in April, the Government News has reported.

Jointly organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development’s Trade Promotion Center for Agriculture, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, and TikTok Vietnam, the “OCOP Marketplace” program has spanned 14 localities from the north to the south, including Bac Can, Son La, Bac Giang, Ha Tinh, Lam Dong, Dong Thap, and Ho Chi Minh City, among others, and is expected to expand to other localities and increase in scale.

With over 800 livestreams labelled “OCOP Marketplace” held over the past six months, the program has connected 500 creators and prestigious traders to bring OCOP goods and local specialties to the public and promote trade exchanges.

“Digital transformation in production and business activities has been identified by the Party and government as a solution and inexorable trend for businesses to enhance their capacity, competitive advantages, existence, and development,” Director of the Trade Promotion Center for Agriculture Nguyen Minh Tien said.

“The promotion of OCOP products on social networks plays an important role in the production and consumption of farm produce. It not only helps realize the National Digital Transformation Program to 2025 with a vision to 2030 but also helps increase the value of localities’ farm produce, making practical contributions to restructuring the agriculture sector.”

“The program enables hundreds of OCOP producers and traders to access technologies and promote farm produce on digital platforms,” said Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade Nguyen Nguyen Phuong. “Ho Chi Minh City will continue coordinating with relevant bodies to promote digital transformation and the trade of OCOP products in particular and the city’s agriculture in general.”
