EVN and German Bank ink loan agreement for Tri An hydropower plant expansion

The Electricity Vietnam (EVN) and the German Development Bank (KfW) on June 24 signed a loan agreement worth €65 million ($75.4 million) for the expansion of Tri An Hydropower Plant in southern Dong Nai province.

The project is the first in which KfW provides a direct loan to EVN without guarantee from the Government.

The new hydropower plant will have a capacity of 200MW and is located in parallel with the existing Tri An hydropower plant.

According to the plan, construction of the project is scheduled to start in June 2025, and its turbine unit No. 1 is expected to generate in the third quarter of 2027. The turbine unit No. 2 and the entire project are expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2027.
