FPT Semiconductor teams up with Silvaco

FPT Semiconductor has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Silvaco from the US in New York to develop semiconductor human resources and grow business in the potential field, witnessed by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

The two sides committed to cooperate in developing human resources in the semiconductor industry for semiconductor companies in the US.

Silvaco, FPT Semiconductor, and FPT University will work together in developing training.

The parties will establish the Vietnam Semiconductor Training Center to promote human resource development according to the government’s program.

In addition, FPT will provide intellectual property services on Silvaco’s platform.

Silvaco and FPT will also cooperate in business development in StandardCell, IO, and Memory design. In the long term, Silvaco will become a strategic investor in FPT Semiconductor.

FPT Semiconductor is also the representative and exclusive distributor of Silvaco’s software in the semiconductor field in Vietnam.

Silvaco was founded in 1984 as a technology software, automation, and semiconductor company. It is headquartered in Santa Clara, California, and has offices in North America, the EU, and Asia.

Prime Minister Chinh also worked with other CEOs from leading US businesses and corporations in the field of semiconductors.

According to Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung, this is the next step in deploying cooperative activities between organizations and businesses in the US semiconductor industry and Vietnamese partners to bring opportunities to expand markets and improve Vietnam’s capacity in the industry.

On September 11, on the occasion of US President Joe Biden’s visit to Vietnam, FPT Chairman Truong Gia Binh announced an investment strategy in the US developing high-quality human resources in the field of AI and promoting the development of the semiconductor industry in Vietnam.

FPT also announced a comprehensive strategic cooperation with LandingAI - a pioneer in the field of machine vision and artificial intelligence in Silicon Valley - to accelerate the process of introducing AI into training within FPT Education’s system.

FPT is the first company in Vietnam to produce commercial chips, focusing on designing them according to customer orders for power chips. It is now focusing on expanding the semiconductor and artificial intelligence segments. Mr. Binh said Vietnam can build a strong position in AI, and with FPT will have the opportunity to develop even faster in the digital field.
