French wine makers convene at Tastin’ France event in Hanoi
“The strong pace of economic development between 6-7 per cent per annum has brought prosperity to the Vietnamese people, who are turning their attention towards products of higher quality”, the French Ambassador to Vietnam told participants at an event.
"The Vietnamese market is becoming increasingly important in the Asian region for French business due to your remarkable economic growth”, French Ambassador Olivier Brochet stated at the Tastin France wine tasting event on April 1.
This year’s event, the 14th one of its kind in Vietnam, is organized by Business France Vietnam, a commerce and investment promotion agency under the French Embassy in Vietnam.
Tastin France aims to create opportunities for dialogue and cooperation between French wine making businesses and Vietnamese companies by introducing representatives and leaders of companies, hotels, and restaurants in the Southeast Asian country to high quality French wine.
The 14th Tastin France event this year has attracted the participation of 34 suppliers from various wine making regions of France like Champagne, Bourgogne, Bordeaux and Alsace.
“The strong pace of economic development between 6-7 per cent per annum has brought prosperity to the Vietnamese people, who are turning their attention towards products of higher quality”, Ambassador Brochet shared during his opening speech at the event.
“This is particularly true amongst the younger generations in Vietnam, who have a very favorable view of French wine”, he added.
The Ambassador encouraged businesses of both countries to use this event as a platform to provide more information on French wine and alcohol products to Vietnamese consumers.
Although the volume of imported wine and spirits has decreased due to the impact of the economic downturn, Business France still considers the alcoholic beverage industry in Vietnam as one of the most dynamic markets in Asia.
While the import of wine into Vietnam decreased by 14.5% during the 2022-2023 period, imported spirits increased by 7% in terms of value.
The Tastin France is part of the Gout de France chain of events with the purpose of promoting French cuisine and beverage products to Vietnamese consumers. The highlight of Gout de France will be the Balade en France festival, which will be hosted in Hanoi between 5-7 of April.
