Ho Chi Minh City will host the Green Economy Forum and Exhibition (GEFE) 2024 from October 21-23.

With the theme of "Building Green Futures", this event aims to accelerate Vietnam's transition to a sustainable economy in the face of climate change.

Jointly organized by the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham Vietnam) and the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (VIETRADE) at the Ministry of Industry and Trade, GEFE 2024 is expected to attract over 8,000 attendees.

Mr. Bruno Jaspaert, new Chairman of EuroCham Vietnam, emphasized the urgency of addressing climate change at the press conference launching GEFE 2024 on September 24.

"The recent storm displaced countless families and caused widespread destruction across 26 localities, serving as a stark reminder that climate change is no longer a distant threat but an urgent crisis requiring immediate, collective action," he stated.

Mr. Jaspaert highlighted GEFE 2024 as a crucial platform for fostering dialogue between government leaders, businesses, and international organizations to address the pressing realities of climate change. He also emphasized the event's role in showcasing European companies' innovative solutions for making Vietnam future-proof.

Mr. Vu Ba Phu, Director General of VIETRADE said the event aims to strengthen connections, promote investment, and enhance trade cooperation between Europe and Vietnam. It also aligns with the National Growth Strategy for the period of 2021-30.

Over the course of three days, GEFE 2024 will focus on critical themes driving meaningful solutions for a sustainable future, including climate resilience, digitalization, green finance, and sustainable energy transitions. These areas are key to Vietnam's goal of achieving net zero by 2050, as pledged at COP26.

Mr. Alain Cany, Co-Chair of GEFE Organizing Committee, highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing the climate crisis, saying that these events not only fostered critical discussions but also established a collaborative spirit essential for addressing the climate crisis."
