Southeast Asian mobile on-demand services platform Gojek and ZaloPay, one of the leading online payment platforms in Vietnam, have officially announced a new partnership that allows users to access ZaloPay to pay for on-demand food delivery services from GoFood on the Gojek app.

Payment by ZaloPay for other Gojek services such as ride-hailing on GoRide and GoCar and logistics on GoSend will be available early next year.

The introduction of ZaloPay on the Gojek platform is part of the latter’s strategy to provide users with more payment options as it aims to create a safe, seamless, and convenient payment experience on its app. The partnership will also enable Gojek to serve ZaloPay’s ecosystem of 11.5 million users and access the tens of millions of Zalo users.

The cooperative arrangement is also a significant step for ZaloPay as it aims to encourage the use of non-cash payments in Vietnam and supports the country’s rising shift in transactions from traditional to contactless payments.

In August, ZaloPay and Gojek also launched a feature that enabled Gojek’s driver-partners to top-up their driver wallet conveniently through the ZaloPay application. This feature was well received, with positive feedback from Gojek’s driver-partners.

Mr. Sumit Rathor, General Manager of Gojek Vietnam, said the integration of ZaloPay on Gojek marks another significant step on its journey to accelerate the adoption of safe and easy-to-use cashless payments, in line with its commitment to improve lives through technology. “Diversifying the range of payment methods on the Gojek app is one of our priorities, as non-cash payments enables greater convenience and safety for users while also providing greater transparency and protection against fraud, all of which benefits everyone in our ecosystem,” he added.

Ms. Le Lan Chi, Chief Executive Officer of ZaloPay, said the partnership with Gojek marks an important milestone as part of their mission to grow and promote cashless payments, especially in the field of transportation and delivery in Vietnam. “Gojek’s incredible platform will accelerate our progress towards achieving our goal,” she said. “For Gojek’s merchants and drivers, ZaloPay hopes to become an important and valued partner that helps to drive consumer demand, indirectly helping to boost revenue through our modern, secure, and convenient payment infrastructure.”

To activate ZaloPay as a payment method on Gojek, users can go to the “My Profile” icon on the upper right side of the Gojek app, select “Payment Method”, and add “ZaloPay” to the list of payment methods.

On the ZaloPay application or ZaloPay mini-app on Zalo, users can also get instructions on how to install the Gojek app and link the ZaloPay wallet to their Gojek accounts. To do this, users can simply go to the ZaloPay homepage, find the Gojek icon and follow the steps as instructed.

Gojek has grown to become the leading on-demand platform in Indonesia, with additional operations in Vietnam and Singapore. The Gojek platform now comprises over 2.7 million driver-partners across the region. Gojek is part of the GoTo Group, the largest digital ecosystem in Indonesia, consisting of Gojek, Tokopedia, and GoTo Financial.

Gojek is dedicated to solving the daily challenges faced by consumers while improving the quality of life for millions of people across Southeast Asia, especially those in the informal sector and in micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).

ZaloPay is an e-wallet platform and online payment system with more than 11.5 million users in 2022. It is gradually asserting its position in the Vietnamese fintech market.
