Hai Phong city attracts 32 projects and 7 MoUs worth $15.6 bln
At an investment promotion conference attended by State President Luong Cuong, investment certificates were granted to domestic and international investors.
At an investment promotion conference held on July 15 in the northern city of Hai Phong, with the attendance of State President Luong Cuong, as part of the third meeting of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC III), hosted by the city, investment registration certificates for 32 projects were handed over to investors, while 7 memoranda of understanding (MoU) on cooperation were signed, with a combined registered capital of over $15.6 billion.
The conference, themed “Hai Phong – Strategic Gateway to the New Era” saw presence of more than 1,200 delegates from government agencies and Hai Phong city, businesses from 21 APEC economies, foreign diplomatic missions in Vietnam, executives of foreign-invested enterprises operating in the country, and major Vietnamese corporations.
Addressing the conference, State President Luong Cuong stressed that the event conveys a message of Vietnam’s proactive approach to comprehensive integration, its development aspiration, and its strong commitment to improving the investment environment.
Amidst rapid global changes in geopolitics, technology, and investment and business environment, adaptability and innovation are vital for the survival of any economy, the President said, adding that Hai Phong, with its ecosystem of seaports, industrial zones, and smart urban areas, exemplifies these essential qualities.
Hai Phong, in particular, serves as the largest export gateway in the northern region, playing an ever-growing role in the regional network, the President stressed.
At the conference, investors got insights into the city’s potential, advantages, and strategic investment opportunities.
