Kon Tum to develop tourism site into attractive destination
Mang Den tourism site in central highlands province targeted to welcome 2.5 million tourists each year by 2030.
The Mang Den tourism site in the central highlands’ Kon Tum province will be developed into an attractive destination in the region, with the development of unique tourism products connected to natural habitats, biodiversity, and traditional culture.
Under master planning on building the Mang Den tourism site, which has been approved by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, it is expected to welcome 2.5 million tourists annually by 2030 and 5 million by 2045.
It welcomed over 930,000 tourists in the first eleven months of this year; double the figure in the same period last year.
The plan focuses on developing tourism activities and transport infrastructure to create favorable conditions for tourists to visit Mang Den.
In August, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh agreed to add the construction of Mang Den Airport to national airport master planning, under a proposal from provincial authorities. Investment in the airport is estimated at VND4 trillion ($166 million).
Mang Den is predicted to have a population of 82,000 by 2030 and 184,000 by 2045. It will cover a total area of an estimated 90,152 ha.
