Lien Khuong airport to develop into international one
Its capacity to be doubled to 5 million passengers by 2030.
Lien Khuong Airport in the Central Highlands’ Lam Dong province is set to become an international airport with a capacity of serving 5 million passengers by 2030, a 2.5-fold increase compared to the current capacity, according to the Ministry of Transport.
Under a master plan to develop the airport during 2021-2030 with a vision to 2050 recently approved by the Ministry of Transport, the airport is capable of handling 20,000 tons of cargo by 2030.
The airport’s Terminal 2 will be constructed in 2021-2030, able to serve some 3 million passengers a year. It will then be expanded to increase the capacity to serve 7 million passengers and handle 30,000 tons of cargo by 2050.
In 2019, before the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, Lien Khuong airport served over 2 million passengers, including passengers on international flights from countries like the Republic of Korea and Thailand.
