The Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee has submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Construction on developing the Long Thanh Urban Area, surrounding the under-construction Long Thanh International Airport, by 2045.

The urban area will be developed to become an airport city and international gateway and an aviation logistics center with a population of about 500,000 people by 2045.

Under planning, Long Thanh will be a city that acts as the provincial center for administration, economy, culture, education, and healthcare. It will also be a center for education, scientific research linked to high-tech industrial parks and high-quality technology transfer, high-quality trade, and finance in the region.

Long Thanh city will be a sustainable international gateway airport city, laying the foundation for the development of green and environmentally-friendly technology, adapting to climate change. It will act as a center for entertainment, logistics, and service provision in the region, and have modern technical infrastructure and social infrastructure that fully meet the needs of local people.

If approved, the project is expected to cover 19,960-20,400 ha of land by 2030 and 23,840-24,000 ha by 2045.
