The Ministry of Transport (MoT) has issued Decision No. 1503/QD-BGTVT approving a project to renovate and upgrade the navigation channel to ports in Nam Nghi Son, northern Thanh Hoa province.

The project belongs to Group B, is invested in by the Marine Project Management Board, and is expected to be completed in 2024.

The channel is 5,200 meters in length and the upgrade will allow passage of ships carrying general cargo, containers, and bulk cargo.

The MoT has assigned the Marine Project Management Board to take responsibility for implementing the contents of the appraisal report and subsequent steps.

According to the ministry, the investment objective is to improve infrastructure to serve the development of Nghi Son Seaport as well as the development of the Nghi Son Economic Zone. At the same time, the project is expected to increase investment attraction in the Nam Nghi Son port area to serve the socio-economic development of Thanh Hoa province and the region.
