Nghi Son Port handles 22.8mln tons of cargo in 7M

Revenue of $4.24 billion earned from handling cargo at north-central region port during the first seven months.

Total revenue from trade passing via Nghi Son Port in north-central Thanh Hoa province stood at over $4.24 billion in the first seven months of this year, according to the Vietnam Customs branch at the Nghi Son Port.

The total volume of goods was estimated at 22.8 million tons.

To date, 109 businesses have registered to conduct customs procedures at the port. In addition to local businesses are many from other localities such as Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Binh Duong, Nghe An, Binh Dinh, and Ninh Binh provinces, which have shifted their export and import services to Nghi Son.

The port is capable of berthing vessels of 70,000-100,000 DWT.

Under expansion plans for the Nghi Son Economic Zone, Nghi Son Port will have 51 wharfs, including ten container wharfs. As of July this year, 21 wharfs had been put into operation.

It has a total capacity of handling 57 million tons of cargo a year.
