Stricter management over e-commerce activities
Violations of tax and customs will be strictly punished.
In his Official Dispatch No.56/CD-TTg, signed on June 6, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested relevant ministries, agencies and localities to tighten management over e-commerce and digital business activities.
The Government leader asked the Ministry of Finance to particularly increase inspection over live sales and require authorized agencies to impose penalties on violators.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade was ordered to continue working with the Ministry of Finance to inspect and address violations in the e-commerce sector, particularly violations relating to tax and customs.
It is also necessary to promote disseminate information to raise businesses’ awareness of abiding by related regulations and protect consumers’ rights in the cyberspace; examine and handle violations such as smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, infringement of intellectual property rights, and unfair competition in e-commerce, according to the dispatch.
Meanwhile, the dispatch urged the ministries and localities to organize programs and master plans to support enterprises to apply e-commerce to improve production and trade efficiency, while enhancing their competitiveness.
The Minister of Finance was entrusted to chair and coordinate with relevant ministries and agencies to continue reviewing and simplifying administrative procedures, creating favorable conditions for tax payers; and optimizing customs clearance procedures for goods traded via e-commerce.
The PM also asked the ministries to build technology solutions to strengthen management of transactions on digital platforms.
