Sun Taxi buys 3,000 electric vehicles from VinFast

The Sun Taxi Group signed a contract on June 1 to buy 3,000 VF 5 Plus electric vehicles (EVs) from VinFast, to add to its fleet of gasoline-fueled motor cars now in operation, with a handover between now and 2025.

The introduction of electric taxis is part of Sun Taxi’s green transformation strategy, business expansion, and service improvements, contributing to the promotion of the green transport revolution and Vietnam’s goal of reaching net-zero emissions by 2050.

In the first phase, Sun Taxi will use electric taxis in cities and provinces such as Quang Binh, Hue, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa), Phan Thiet (Binh Thuan), Gia Lai, and Kon Tum. It is expected that, by 2025, all 3,000 EVs in the contract will have been rolled out around Vietnam.

Mr. Nguyen Duy Hung, Chairman of the Board of Directors at the Sun Taxi Group, said EVs are now common around the world and Vietnamese businesses cannot stand apart from the trend.

In the taxi business for many years, through experience and trial operations, Sun Taxi recognizes the advantages EVs hold compared to gasoline-fueled vehicles, such as helping optimize the number of operations personnel, helping drivers control the vehicle more safely and conveniently, and at the same time saving significantly on maintenance and repair costs.

Similarly, Mr. Tran Le Phuong, Deputy General Director of VinFast Vietnam, said it is very pleased that more and more transport businesses are choosing to convert to green vehicles.
