Task force established to accelerate railway projects connecting with China and Laos

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has decided to set up a working group for implementing railway investment projects connecting Vietnam with China and Laos.

Under Prime Ministerial Decision No.999/QD-TTg, dated September 18, 2024, the working group, to be headed by the Minister of Transport,  is responsible for assisting the Prime Minister in researching, directing and coordinating in dealing with important interdisciplinary tasks related to the implementation of planning and investment of railway projects connecting with China and Laos.

It will also study, consult and propose orientations, solutions, mechanisms and policies to remove obstacles, mobilize resources and speed up the implementation of the railway projects.

Priority will be given to the investment in building the Lao Cai-Hanoi-Hai Phong railway project which is scheduled to start in early 2025.
