Thanh Hoa targets premium rice exports to Japanese, EU and US markets
In November 2024, the first shipment of Thanh Hoa rice was officially exported to Singapore.

The Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee is actively developing cultivation zones that meet GlobalGAP and organic standards to connect with major export enterprises. The goal is to introduce Thanh Hoa rice to premium markets such as Japan, Europe, and the United States.
Simultaneously, the central province is encouraging businesses to invest in deep processing to increase the proportion of high-quality processed rice for official export channels.
For 2025, Thanh Hoa has set a target to cultivate 224,300 ha of rice for a total output of 1,345,800 tons.
Thanh Hoa currently maintains over 150,000 ha of high-yield, high-quality intensive rice cultivation. Concentrated production zones, covering approximately 80,000 ha, serve as the foundation for organizing production according to value chains.
Across the province, there are currently eight major enterprises involved in purchasing and processing rice, with a total designed capacity of 274,600 tons per year.
Thanh Hoa currently has 12 rice products recognized under the OCOP (One Commune One Product) program with 3-star and 4-star ratings.
The market for Thanh Hoa's rice remains primarily focused on domestic consumption, accounting for about 90% of the total output. However, export activities have shown positive signals.
In November 2024, the first shipment of Thanh Hoa rice was officially exported to Singapore. In 2024, the province's total rice export volume reached 500 tons, with an export value of $329,000. In 2025, export activities are set to expand further into the European market. .
Currently, three companies are certified as eligible to export rice: Lam Son Sugarcane Joint Stock Company (JSC), VinaGreen Development Investment JSC, and Tam Phu Hung High-Tech Food Limited Liability Company (LLC).
