Vietnam and Iran have much potential for trade and commercial cooperation, Chairman of the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture Hossein Selahvarzi said while addressing a forum on policies and laws to promote economic, trade, and investment ties between Vietnam and Iran, held in Tehran on August 9.
The forum was jointly held by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Embassy of Vietnam in Iran, and the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture, as part of National Assembly (NA) Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue’s official visit to Iran.
Mr. Selahvarzi called for greater efforts by both sides to promote economic and trade cooperation.
Iran has a host of plans to boost cooperation with Vietnam, including economic, trade, and investment cooperation, he said.
Speaking at the forum, Mr. Hue proposed that Vietnam and Iran remove obstacles to raise bilateral trade and continue perfecting their legal frameworks to facilitate the operations of businesses and investors.
He urged the two countries to boost the operations of working groups for trade exchange and payments. The two countries have signed many agreements on double taxation avoidance, judicial assistance, and customs, along with MoUs on technology and education.
He emphasized that the Vietnamese legislature has been making every effort to consolidate the legal framework and remove obstacles facing foreign investors in the country.
The two countries’ chambers of commerce and industry should organize more cooperative activities, he added, with exchanges of delegations arranged to tighten links between localities and enterprises.
Mr. Pour Ebrahimi, Chairman of the Iranian Parliament’s Economic Committee, affirmed that the Iranian Government and people want to enhance economic and trade cooperation with Vietnam.
