Vietnam - RoK festival expected to boost bilateral cooperation
Many trade and investment promotion activities held during the three-day event.
A cultural exchange festival between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK) opened in the central city of Da Nang on August 16 with the aim of promoting the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two sides.
Addressing the opening ceremoy, Vice Chairwoman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, head of the organizing board, stressed that the diplomatic ties between Vietnam and the RoK have gained achievements in many fields.
The two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and RoK exceeding $76.1 billion in 2023, making Vietnam the third largest trade partner of the RoK.
Meanwhile, RoK is now the biggest investor in Vietnam with the accumulated registered investment capital of $85.9 billion.
Da Nang is a locality that has proactively built the friendship and cooperation with localities,, organizations and businesses from the RoK, across trade, investment, tourism, education, human resources and cultural exchange, she said.
During the three-day event, many activities were held to boost bilateral cooperation in various fields, including trade and export and import promotion between the city’s Department of Industry and Trade and the Department of Economy and Trade of South Korea’s Gyeongsangbuk province; trade, investment and labor cooperation promotion between Da Nang and Uijeongbu city of the RoK, tourism promotion; and fishery development cooperation between the Da Nang Fishing Association and the Jeju Fishing Cooperative.
