Vietnam SuperPort™ has entered into a strategic memorandum of cooperation with the Transport Development and Strategy Institute (under Vietnam’s Ministry of Transport) and China Railway 16th Bureau Group Vietnam Co., Ltd. (a subsidiary of China Railway Construction Corporation) to advance rail logistics infrastructure. This agreement underscores Vietnam’s commitment to enhancing its logistics capabilities and fostering stronger trade ties within the region.

The signing ceremony was attended by H.E. Jaya Ratnam, Singapore’s Ambassador to Vietnam, and Dr. Robert Yap, Executive Chairman of YCH Group. The event marked a significant milestone in Vietnam’s efforts to boost its transportation, logistics, and trade sectors while strengthening international cooperation and contributing to sustainable economic development.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Vietnam SuperPort™ and the Transport Development and Strategy Institute focuses on implementing a national railway network development strategy. This includes planning new railway lines and terminals connected to Vietnam SuperPort™, aiming to improve the efficiency of goods transportation and establish the port as a central transshipment hub along the Lao Cai – Hanoi – Hai Phong – Quang Ninh railway corridor. The initiative is designed to lower logistics costs and facilitate seamless cross-border trade.

Separately, Vietnam SuperPort™ has also signed an MoU with China Railway 16th Bureau Group Vietnam Co., Ltd., which will focus on constructing a rail cargo terminal at the SuperPort and developing a railway link to Vietnam’s national network. This partnership aims to enhance cross-border logistics and accelerate connectivity between Vietnam, China, and the ASEAN region. Vietnam SuperPort™ will offer integrated logistics solutions, including cargo handling, warehouse management, and multimodal transportation, to improve the efficiency and competitiveness of rail logistics.

Dr. Yap Kwong Weng, CEO of Vietnam SuperPort™, highlighted the importance of these partnerships in achieving the vision of a multimodal logistics hub. Covering an area of 83 hectares, the project will integrate road, air, sea, and rail transport. “Developing logistics in tandem with new transportation infrastructure, especially the rail masterplans, will strengthen Vietnam’s logistics capabilities and deepen its integration into global supply chains,” Dr. Yap stated.
