Da Nang seeks South Korean partnership to develop ginseng industry
Currently, Da Nang is home to 345 South Korean investment projects with a total registered capital of approximately $1.31 billion.

Da Nang city in central Vietnam is looking to enhance its cooperative relationship with Hamyang County, Gyeongsangnam province, South Korea, with a special focus on developing the ginseng sector.
The proposal was made by Mr. Ho Quang Buu, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee, during a working session with Mr. Jin Byung-young, Mayor of Hamyang County.
Mr. Buu stated that the new city of Da Nang (following the merger with Quang Nam province) intends to build upon the existing friendly cooperation agreement that Hamyang County signed with Nam Tra My District (in former Quang Nam province) back in 2015. He added that the city is considering assigning its now Nam Tra My commune to take the lead in continuing and expanding cooperative activities with Hamyang.
"Looking ahead, we hope that both sides will strengthen business connections and promote cooperation in economy, trade, and tourism," said Vice Chairman Buu. "We particularly want to collaborate on developing ginseng, a valuable medicinal herb where both of our localities have significant strengths."
New Da Nang maintains strong friendly and cooperative relations with eight South Korean localities. The city has implemented numerous partnership programs in areas such as tourism, training, official exchanges, cultural events, green transportation, and smart city initiatives.
South Korea is a key economic partner for the city. Currently, Da Nang is home to 345 South Korean investment projects with a total registered capital of approximately $1.31 billion, concentrated primarily in manufacturing, garments, and services. In the first six months of 2025, export turnover from Da Nang to South Korea is projected to reach $25 million.
