The People's Committee of  northern Nam Dinh Province has approved the investment policy of the Nghia Hung Inland Waterway Port Project (Phase 1), with a total investment capital of VND3.4 trillion ($130.2 million)

Under the approved plan, the project will be implemented in Nam Dien and Nghia Hai communes, Nghia Hung District, covering a total area of 89.4 hectares. Of this, 77.1 hectares are designated for construction, 12.3 hectares lie within the protection corridor of the Day River dike, and 142.1 hectares of river surface area on the Day River are allocated for port operations.

Nghia Hung Port Joint Stock Company will be the project investor. Once completed, the port is expected to reach a total cargo handling capacity of approximately 10.15 million tons per year.

The project is planned to operate for 70 years from the date of investment policy approval. The construction of the project is expected to be completed within 48 months from the date of land handover.

The Nghia Hung Inland Waterway Port is expected to offer services such as cargo handling, warehousing, and storage, as well as provide supporting services for road, waterway, and railway transportation. The project aims to build a large-scale inland port that will serve as a key hub for transportation and logistics in the region.

The Nam Dinh Provincial People's Committee requires the investor to bear full legal responsibility for the accuracy of the total investment amount, capital structure, and all information and data in the project dossier. The investor must also ensure sufficient capital mobilization, adhere to all commitments, and strictly comply with regulations on land, environment, irrigation, transport, and related legal procedures.

In addition, the People's Committee of Nghia Hung District, the People's Committees of Nam Dien and Nghia Hai Communes, and related local agencies will be responsible for on-site monitoring during the construction and operation phases of the project, ensuring legal compliance and sustainable development.
