Quang Binh records positive economic growth in 5M

Central Quang Binh province continued to record positive economic growth in the first five months of the year, particularly in industrial production, trade and services, and tourism.

In May, the province’s Index of Industrial Production (IIP) rose 6.9% year-on-year.

To boost industrial development, the province is accelerating the implementation of some key industrial projects, including the Quang Trach 1 Coal-fired Power Plant, QT Quang Binh Garment Factory, and La Trong Hydropower project.

Regarding trade and services, the province’s total retail sales of consumer products and services reached over VND5.63 trillion ($215.7 million) in May, up 12.45% year-on-year. The figure brings the total revenue in the first five months of the year to more than VND27.46 trillion ($1.05 billion), increasing 35.46% compared to the same period last year.

In the five-month period, Quang Binh welcomed over 2.1 million tourists, surging 15.8% year-on-year. Total tourism revenue is estimated at nearly VND2.49 trillion ($95.4 million).
