Thanh Hoa begins construction of road linking North-South Expressway with seaport
Total investment estimated at $54.89 million in new road in north-central province.
Construction of a road connecting the North-South Expressway and National Highway No. 1A to Nghi Son Seaport in north-central Thanh Hoa province kicked off on February 19.
The project was approved by the Thanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee on December 13, 2022, with total investment capital of VND1.345 trillion ($54.89 million).
It will be built as a third grade road, allowing a maximum speed of 80 kph.
The project is divided into two routes. The first, which is 10.4 km long, will be built from National Highway No. 1A to the Tho Xuan - Nghi Son Road. The second, which is 3 km long, will run from the Nghi Son - Bai Tranh Road to the North-South Expressway.
It is aimed at completing the local transport infrastructure network to attract more investors to industrial parks in the Nghi Son Economic Zone (EZ), contributing to boosting the province’s socio-economic development.
Addressing the breaking-ground ceremony, Deputy Chairman of the People’s Committee Mai Xuan Liem said the road will help shorten travel times between the western reaches of the province and the Nghi Son EZ, helping facilitate the transport of cargo and passengers.
It will also create a transport network linking the North-South Expressway, the Nghi Son - Tho Xuan Road, and other regional roads with Tho Xuan Airport and Nghi Son Seaport.
The project will also help facilitate transport to and from industrial parks to help the development of coastal tourism, Mr. Liem added.
