HCM City to invest $859 mln in upgrading a highway section

The section is part of National Highway 13 that connects the city to neighboring Binh Duong province.

Ho Chi Minh City plans to upgrade a section of the National Highway 13 which connects the southern city to neighboring Binh Duong province, according to the municipal Department of Transport.

The 6.3-km section will be upgraded to 10 lanes with a roadbed width of 60m, according to a pre-feasibility study plan submitted to the city’s People’s Committee by the department recently.

It will be built under the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model with an investment capital estimated at over VND21.7 trillion ($859 million). Of the total, more than VND14.7 trillion ($574 million) will be earmarked from the State budget while the rest will be mobilized by the investor.

The project is expected to get approval in the first quarter of this year and construction is scheduled to start in the third quarter of 2026. It is expected to be completed and put into operation by 2028.
