VPBank & Amazon Web Services join hands to lift digital banking experience

The Vietnam Prosperity Joint-Stock Commercial Bank (VPBank) has selected Amazon Web Services (AWS) as its cloud provider to enhance digital banking experiences for VPBank customers.

Under a strategic cooperation agreement signed on April 4, VPBank will use AWS SageMaker and AWS AI Services to enhance its analytics capabilities and accelerate the development of banking-financial applications, enhance automation of banking tasks, and drive new digital banking features such as chatbots and digital banking solutions to improve customer service.

By using AWS’s most secure global infrastructure, VPBank will build banking and financial applications with the highest standards in privacy and data security, and further improve the capacity for customer information security, ensuring the highest safety for domestic and international transactions. The agreement will help VPBank optimize costs without having to invest in on-premises infrastructure to scale its digital banking services.

VPBank will also leverage the AWS Training and Certification programs to develop a workforce proficient in cloud skills. Additionally, AWS will work with VPBank to support its recruitment events targeted at engineers and developers and strengthen its digital workforce.

Ms. Luu Thi Thao, Standing Deputy CEO of VPBank, said the cooperation between VPBank and AWS will create major innovations at the bank to meet the diverse needs of its customers. The agreement will also help strengthen the stability of VPBank’s core banking system, meeting the highest standards in information security and safety and helping customers feel more secure every time they conduct a transaction, especially in the digital environment. With cloud, VPBank will master technologies that allow it to go even faster in building banking-financial solutions and promoting business growth through technology application.

For his part, Mr. Conor McNamara, Managing Director of ASEAN at AWS, noted that Vietnam’s financial services industry has rapidly embraced digital technology to drive financial inclusion, deliver personalized customer experiences, and maximize the advantages public cloud technology can offer for operational excellence, security, and cost optimization. “We are proud to work with VPBank to enable the bank’s ambitious infrastructure modernization objectives to meet and exceed the rapidly changing consumer behavior and expectations and drive business growth,” he said.
