2023 durian exports expected to hit $1.6bln
Total output estimated at 900,000 tons each year.

Durian exports have continued to rise and are expected to exceed $1.6 billion this year, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) has said.
Exporters earned more than $1 billion from durian exports in the first seven months of the year.
However, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan warned that while there are great opportunities, exporters and farmers need to remain alert about the challenges and difficulties.
The recent “heated” increase in durian prices resulted in extreme buying and selling that sparked price fluctuations, abandoned contracts, and broken chains affecting the reputation, quality, and brand of Vietnamese durians in the global market, he told a forum in the central highlands’ Dak Lak province on September 11 to seek measures to develop the sector sustainably.
There are over 112,000 ha of durian growing area around Vietnam. Total output is estimated at 900,000 tons a year.
