Companies from Food Taipei Mega Shows 2023 eyeing Vietnam
Leading players in the Taiwanese food industry are hoping to find partners at Food Taipei Mega Shows 2023 in June and expand globally and in Vietnam.
From June 14 to 17, Food Taipei Mega Shows 2023, one of the leading food shows in Asia and the most iconic food exhibition in Taipei, will be held at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center Halls 1 and 2.
Organized by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), the event is expected to feature major Taiwanese exhibitors and foreign brands from nearly 25 countries and territories, including Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, the Netherlands, the Philippines, the US, and Vietnam. Some of the Taiwanese companies told VnEconomy / Vietnam Economic Times about their plans to enter the Vietnamese market.
Companies in the food machinery industry consider Vietnam a market of potential. ANKO Food Machine, a professional food machine and food production consultancy company, is planning to officially enter the country in the near future. According to Mr. Robert Ouyoung, Chairman of the company, over recent years, ANKO’s products have been sold to a number of companies in Vietnam via importers. Its best-selling product in the country is a Vietnamese Rice Paper Spring Roll Machine.
Hundred Machinery, meanwhile, specializes in automated food stuffing and forming machinery. According to Ms. Elsa Lin, Sales Manager at Hundred Machinery, the company has exported its products to Vietnam via a third-party importer. Vietnamese customers include Dai Phat Food, Simmy Seafood, Holafoods, and GN FOODS, and it is looking to boost its cooperation with other Vietnamese partners.
Ms. Elise Huang, Sales Director at Hundred Machinery, added that the company has plans to expand to other countries in Asia and ASEAN. However, three years of disruptions from Covid-19 saw the market become rather quiet. Therefore, this year, Hundred Machinery plans to attend a large number of international events and exhibitions, including Food Taipei Mega Shows 2023, to seek partners and business opportunities abroad.
Companies in the food packaging industry are also very interested in the Vietnamese market. Tien Heng Machinery and Hopak Machinery are two leading Taiwanese manufacturers of automated packaging systems. Their products are currently being distributed in Vietnam through third-party importers. They both expressed a wish to officially enter Vietnam and hope to find importers through the Food Taipei Mega Shows 2023.
Companies operating in the frozen food industry also consider Vietnam an attractive export and production market. Mr. Andrew Soong, President of Chi Mei Frozen Food, said the company plans to build manufacturing plants in ASEAN countries, including Vietnam and Thailand, and has already done so in the Philippines. It has been planning to enter the Vietnamese market for about three years, but Covid-19 pushed its plans back. The company is planning to officially enter Vietnam shortly, and also hopes to find Vietnamese partners at Food Taipei Mega Shows 2023.
Some of the most famous tea brands are also planning to enter Vietnam. Pei Chen is a professional tea and beverage raw materials factory. The company’s products, under the brand High Tea, have been exported to more than 80 countries and territories worldwide. They have also been used in various bubble tea chains in Vietnam, such as Gong Cha and Share Tea, but the company has not been officially launched in the country. Noting that Vietnam is an attractive market for milk tea and tea-based beverages, it expressed a desire for its products to be distributed widely in the market and hopes to cooperate with reliable partners in the country.
Yoshan Tea, meanwhile, one of the most famous Taiwanese tea houses and tea producers, is looking to find trustworthy distributors in Vietnam to promote its high-quality products, so that Vietnamese customers can experience the passion and hospitality of Taiwanese tea culture.
