IT labor market webinar held
ManpowerGroup Vietnam hosts webinar on trends in IT industry and its workforce.
The “IT World of Work” webinar, organized by ManpowerGroup Vietnam on June 30, emphasized the key technology trends impacting the future of the IT industry, the effect of these trends on the global IT workforce, and their application in IT human resource management strategies.
Speakers included Mr. Dao Trung Thanh, an IT and Digital Transformation Strategy Consultant, and Ms. Nguyen Thi Van Anh, Manager, Permanent Recruitment & Consulting Services, at ManpowerGroup Vietnam.
Mr. Thanh spoke of seven key technology trends in the IT industry: Digital killed the analog star; AI has entered the chat; Connect everything, everywhere, all at once; Software 2-point woah; A forecast of increasing clouds; Fortifying cyber fortresses; and Domo Arigato, Mr. Roboto.
Data shows that Vietnam’s digital economy stood at $23 billion in 2022 and is projected to reach $50 billion by 2025, making it the fastest-growing market in the region, thanks to a thriving e-commerce sector. However, the IT workforce has not been able to meet market demand in terms of quantity and quality, as 68 per cent of organizations report a “Moderate to Extreme” AI skills gap.
As a recommendation, Ms. Nguyen Thi Van Anh mentioned the top 5 soft skills that IT employers are seeking, including critical thinking and analysis; creativity and originality; reasoning and problem-solving; reliability and self-discipline; and initiative.
“The convergence of these trends will accelerate the pace of change and innovation in the IT industry in the years to come,” she went on. “As these disruptive technologies scale, they will democratize, and a growing number of organizations will have access to them. However, with talent scarcity projected to persist for the foreseeable future, access to talent with the vision to fully leverage them will be the differentiator.”
The webinar provided useful information for recruitment and talent attraction managers, HR professionals interested in digital technology fields such as data science, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software technology, and HR managers in general.
