VinFast to expand to Southeast Asia
Vietnamese auto-maker announces move at Future Mobility Asia conference and exhibition in Bangkok.
VinFast announced its intention to expand into Southeast Asia’s electric vehicle (EV) market, offering a complete range of EVs, at the Future Mobility Asia conference and exhibition in the Thai capital Bangkok from May 17-19. It also plans to launch the first four right-hand-drive EVs in the international market.
It showcased three EV models - the VF e34, VF 8, and VF 9 - and offered test drives on-site, to provide an opportunity for people to experience the vehicle and its intelligent features. Future Mobility Asia 2023 marks the first time VinFast has officially launched products in Asia and the first time it has announced expansion plans in Southeast Asia, joining vital established markets in North America and Europe. VinFast will also promote right-hand-drive versions of the VF 5, VF 6, VF 7, and VF e34 models.
“Expanding into Southeast Asia is part of VinFast’s global development strategy,” Ms. Le Thi Thu Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of Vingroup and Chairwoman of VinFast, told the gathering. “We aim to provide ASEAN countries with smart, safe mobility solutions and excellent experiences, thereby promoting a green future for everyone.”
Southeast Asian countries hold substantial potential for EVs, with ample space for development and rapid growth. With a favorable geographical location and similar standards and business environment, Southeast Asia will be a lever to promote the development of a comprehensive product and service ecosystem for VinFast and its parent Vingroup.
