$426mln elevated ring road in Hanoi opens to traffic
Project to help ease traffic jams and give the capital a facelift.
The elevated section of Hanoi’s Ring Road No. 2 from Nga Tu So to Vinh Tuy Bridge and the widened ground stretch from Vinh Tuy to Nga Tu Vong officially opened to traffic on January 11.
The Vinh Tuy - Nga Tu So section, including both the elevated and the ground stretches with a total length of over 8 km, is estimated to have cost nearly VND10 trillion (over $426 million).
With a length of 43.6 km, Ring Road No. 2 forms a traffic ring around Hanoi.
The project, which began in 2018, was built under a build-transfer (BT) contract. Construction was partially interrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic.
It is one of the key traffic works in Hanoi during the 2016-2021 period and is expected to help reduce traffic jams and give the capital a facelift.
