FPT Software breaks ground at new technology complex in Binh Dinh
Project expected to turn provincial capital Quy Nhon into the artificial intelligence (AI) center of Southeast Asia.
On May 19, FPT Software, a subsidiary of the FPT Corporation, held a breaking ground ceremony for a complex of research, production, and technology training centers in Quy Hoa Valley in Area 2, Ghenh Rang ward, in Quy Nhon city, the capital of south-central Binh Dinh province.
With total investment of more than VND2 trillion ($84.4 million), the technology complex will be a workplace and research and development and study facility for 20,000 tech personnel, contributing to the development of high-quality human resources in the locality as well as attracting international human resources and turning Quy Nhon into the artificial intelligence (AI) center of Southeast Asia.
The project will also provide high-tech services, based on global trending technologies such as AI, big data, the Internet of Things (IoT), and automation, among others, contributing to improving the competitiveness of Vietnamese tech enterprises and promoting technology into an important economic sector in Binh Dinh province.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa, CEO of the FPT Corporation, with the vision and strategy of Binh Dinh province and the strength of FPT, the Vietnamese giant chose the province to become a new technology center. The science and technology complex will be a destination for thousands of tech workers, including from Eastern Europe, India, and elsewhere.
“We expect that the project will contribute to attracting high-quality human resources to Binh Dinh province,” he said. “FPT is committed to devoting all resources to ensure that progress and quality in the project are at the highest level, and to bring FPT’s best personnel. I believe that with the support of the province, FPT will create the best learning and working environment for students and people.”
Mr. Lam Hai Giang, Vice Chairman of the Binh Dinh Provincial People’s Committee, noted that, over the years, the province has invested in the construction and development of the Quy Hoa Technology Urban Area; the first multi-functional urban area in Vietnam. This new project from FPT Software and the commitment of Mr. Truong Gia Binh, Chairman of the FPT Corporation, to make Binh Dinh a cradle of AI, shows the initial success of the technology urban area. “This project will contribute to completing and improving the operational efficiency of the Quy Hoa Technology Urban Area and to local socio-economic development,” he said.
