Viglacera building new industrial park in Bac Ninh
Construction of the Thuan Thanh I Industrial Park officially begins.
Minister of Construction Nguyen Thanh Nghi was among those present as the construction of the Thuan Thanh I Industrial Park (IP) in Thuan Thanh district, northern Bac Ninh province, officially got underway on February 8.
The IP is being developed by Viglacera on a total area of 250 ha. It was approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 210/QD-TTg dated February 17, 2021, and has total investment of nearly VND3 trillion ($134 million).
With a focus on modernity and high technology, it will promote economic development in Thuan Thanh district and Bac Ninh province overall.
Thuan Thanh I boasts a convenient geographical location, near important traffic links such as National Highway No. 17, National Highway No. 38, and Ring Road No. 4, and close to Noi Bai, Cat Bi, and Van Don International Airports as well as Dinh Vu - Hai Phong Seaport and Cai Lan - Quang Ninh Seaport.
It will be a multi-functional IP, focusing on attracting multi-sector investment, primarily in supporting industries, electronics, information technology, household goods, machinery and equipment, and non-polluting, environment-friendly industries, as a sustainable eco-industrial park. Viglacera also plans to build a residential area for experts and workers inside the IP, on an area of some 30.5 ha.
The IP will be ready for hand-over from the second quarter of 2022. Viglacera expects it will make an important contribution to investment attraction and socio-economic development in Bac Ninh.
On the same day and also in the presence of Minister Nghi, Viglacera began construction of 2,000 apartments for about 10,000 workers and experts at the Yen Phong IP in Bac Ninh’s Yen Phong district.
The project includes one- to three-bedroom apartments priced from just VND8.5 million ($377) per sq m, with a range of utilities. The project will contribute to improving quality of life and tackle accommodation problems facing workers, while indirectly supporting costs and creating abundant human resources for labor-intensive local enterprises.
It will also contribute to the implementation of guidelines and policies from the government and the Ministry of Construction as well as Bac Ninh province on the development of social housing and housing for workers, and address the lack of stable accommodation for workers as the speed of industrial development in Vietnam increases.
Viglacera now has 12 IPs with more than 4,000 ha of land for lease, attracting over 300 domestic and foreign investors. Among these are major high-tech manufacturing corporations and multinational corporations such as Samsung, Hyosung, and Amkor from South Korea, Canon, Yazaki, and Toyoda Gosei from Japan, Foxconn from Taiwan (China), and BYD (South Korea), BYD (Japan), BYD (Taiwan, China), and BYD (China), with investment capital in the tens of billions of USD.
