Working group to be established to speed up WB-funded projects
Pledge was made at meeting between a government leader and WB country director on November 3.
During his meeting with World Bank Country Director for Vietnam Carolyn Turk in Hanoi on November 3, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang pledged that the government will soon establish a working group to speed up WB projects in the country, the Government News has reported.
The Deputy Prime Minister said he will assign the Ministry of Planning and Investment to submit a list of projects currently being prepared and the government will remove projects that are unable to complete preparatory processes within 24 months.
Ms. Turk spoke highly of such a working group and pledged to work closely with it to handle obstacles in the implementation of WB projects.
The two agreed to meet every three months to review the progress of WB projects in the country.
The WB has provided around $25 billion in concessional loans since 1993, along with technical assistance and policy recommendations.
