Airbus participates in human resource development in Vietnam's aerospace industry
Airbus aims to help Vietnam achieve its ambition of becoming a key player in the global aerospace industry.
Airbus and the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH) held a ceremony on June 7 to celebrate their successful collaboration in developing aerospace talents and preparing future world-class professionals for Vietnam's aerospace industry.
Following a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed in 2016, witnessed by representatives of the French and Vietnamese governments, Airbus has actively supported the establishment of USTH's Aeronautics Department.
This includes the creation of long-term sustainable education programs, offering a Bachelor's degree in partnership with Bricks by Aerospace Valley and a Master in International Air Transport Operations Management in partnership with ENAC (Ecole Nationale de l'Aviation Civile), both esteemed European educational institutions.
To date, around 100 students across three cohorts have graduated from the Bachelor’s program.
The successful collaboration between Airbus and USTH includes partnerships with key companies in the local aviation industry such as Vietnam Airlines and Vietnam Airlines Engineering Company (VAECO).
Director International Cooperation at Airbus, Ms. Alessandra Erre, said that this collaboration has not only strengthened ties within the aerospace community, but has also propelled advancements in technology and education.
"Together with our partners, we have exemplified the power of teamwork and innovation, driving positive change and fostering sustainable growth within the aviation sector," she added. "Airbus’ partnership with USTH is one of several agreements the company has in Vietnam, underscoring its commitment to remaining a key player in the country’s aerospace ecosystem development.”
Vietnam is a key market for Airbus in the Asia-Pacific region, with over 200 aircraft operating in local airline fleets and another 107 scheduled for delivery.
In its industry footprint, Airbus has contracted local firms such as Artus (Meggitt) Vietnam in Ho Chi Minh City to supply electro-mechanical equipment for the A320 Family, A330 and A350. Airbus has supported the development of Nikkiso Vietnam in Hanoi, by producing composite structures for the A320 Sharklet and aerostructure parts for the A330neo and A350.
Airbus’ aircraft development programs have offered job opportunities to 550 Vietnamese skilled workers, and this figure is projected to reach 1,200 in this decade.
