Mr. Huynh Thien Trieu, Managing Director, Amway Vietnam, tells VET about Amway’s green economic development strategy in realizing its goal of bringing a better and healthier life.

For almost 16 years, Amway Vietnam has proposed business strategies and made sustainable commitments based on the interests of both Amway Business Owners (ABOs) and consumers, with the goal of improving the health of Vietnamese people. Can you tell us more about these strategies and commitments?

In its nearly 16 years in Vietnam, Amway has gradually won over customers, affirming our position with products that meet global standards. Amway’s development journey is built from policies suitable to the needs of each distributor and consumer. We maintain the group’s business philosophy of integrity and its guiding principle of putting product quality first.

Amway’s journey has created a new path, with a new business strategy, which is to differentiate product functions to meet the healthcare needs of consumers, building healthcare communities. At the same time, we have been providing startup opportunities for everyone, improving knowledge about products and business for distributors through research and development training programs and applying science and technology.

On its journey to sustainable development in Vietnam, Amway has been honored four times as among the Best Companies to Work for in Asia, and was recently certified as a Great Place to Work. What does this mean to the company?

We are honored to be the only company in the multilevel marketing industry to receive the Great Place To Work® Certificate in 2024, and for the fourth time, one of the Best Companies to Work for in Asia 2023 by HR Asia Magazine. This achievement is thanks to the working spirit of our staff to bring the best values to the company’s customers, distributors, and partners. This is also proof that Amway has the right talent retention strategies, thereby creating motivation to grow and succeed together.

Amway Vietnam also received a prestigious ASEAN Outstanding Business Award at the ASEAN Award 2024 Announcement Ceremony in May. What lay behind this accomplishment?

To be honored with a prestigious ASEAN Outstanding Business Award at the ASEAN Award 2024 Announcement Ceremony we had to meet the criteria set by the Organizing Board. First, the company had to have made positive contributions to an environment of peace, security, and stability in the region, while achieving business and production growth in the last three years.

There are also factors relating to competitive ability, sustainable integration, and human resources development strategies to meet integration requirements. The Award also sets out extremely important criteria: that businesses ensure economic development associated with environmental protection, fulfill their social responsibilities, and promote community awareness and an ASEAN identity.

We are proud to be a prestigious ASEAN Outstanding Business. The Award affirms Amway’s role in socio-economic development, contributing to enhancing the position of Vietnam’s economy in the international market.

One of our activities aimed at increasing competitiveness and meeting integration requirements is the strategy of building a chain of Amway Experience Centers in many cities and provinces around Vietnam, following a modern and youthful model inspired by world-class experience centers, creating a contemporary, friendly consumer space that meets the needs of Amway customers.

Besides business development, Amway also pursues green economic development to create sustainable values, thereby realizing the goal of bringing a better and healthier life. Amway’s green economic development strategy is demonstrated through product quality as well as business standards and community support.

Amway also organizes communication activities to raise consumer awareness about health, inspiring and motivating consumers to adopt good habits and use natural nutritional products.

What measures is Amway Vietnam implementing as it moves towards green business and ensuring a “better life, healthier life”?

Over almost 16 years, Amway Vietnam has gradually conquered the market and always hopes to contribute to creating a good future with improved quality of life for everyone, starting from innovating mindsets, thinking, and working, and developing in a sustainable and environmentally-friendly direction to gradually pioneer technology transfer and promote research, development, and innovation, driving the implementation of green, pervasive, and sustainable projects.

Being an exclusive brand of Amway, Nutrilite has long been a pioneer in using organic ingredients to create nutritional products with the essence of science and nature. Those pioneering efforts have helped Nutrilite create an outstanding product system with a variety of natural nutritional solutions, suitable for people of all ages and needs. Nutrilite also creates a strong source of inspiration, urging millions of people around the world to move forward with a proactive mindset to take on all challenges with a healthy lifestyle, ready to break through all limits to achieve their goals towards a happier life.

In addition, our Artistry Skin Nutrition skincare products have been certified by The Vegan Society as containing no ingredients of animal origin and as not being tested on animals. In the near future, we will also introduce a line of personal care products to Vietnamese consumers that are also certified by The Vegan Association. Amway believes that, along with research on vegan products in recent times, promoting the production of organic and vegan products will contribute to the development of a green economy.

Amway understands that the goal of green development is to ensure economic development in parallel with sustainable development and environmental protection. Over the years, we have continually contributed to the development of the community, setting the goal of sustainable development higher than the goal of rapid and continuous development.

We believe in the Vietnamese Government’s policies on developing a green economy and we see greater growth opportunities in the future when Vietnam develops and promulgates many policies to promote ESG (environment, social, governance) practices.

What are Amway’s investment plans for its further development in Vietnam?

We will constantly strive to meet changes in customer needs, bringing many new shopping experiences to Vietnamese consumers.

First, we invest in digital technology for production, business, and management, to increase competitiveness and maintain the company’s leading position. Nutritional science will also be a continued investment focus for Amway to create innovative products to serve the healthcare needs of consumers.

Next, inheriting the spirit of “developing people so people develop business activities”, drawn from Amway co-founders Rich DeVos and Jay Van Andel, in which the company will invest in facilities to help staff develop themselves and devise strategies to help distributors conduct business ten-times more easily than currently. From there, we confidently set higher sales and market share goals, gradually moving towards the Top 8 Amway countries globally.

Amway’s business activities will also aim to improve people’s quality of life with the goal of being “Health & Well-being” through six factors that create Healthy body, Healthy  planet, Healthy mind, Community connection, Personal growth and Financial Well-being. 

In addition to business activities, Amway continues to maintain and promote activities accompanying the government and departments to spread good values within society. In particular, in June, Amway Vietnam and the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union held a signing ceremony to cooperate in implementing community support activities, aiming to enhance patriotism and national pride among Vietnamese youth; promote the effectiveness of the information and propaganda activities of the Central Youth Union; and help people in the southern region affected by drought and a lack of water for daily use.

This meaningful cooperative activity aims to continue implementing plans to expand Amway Vietnam’s social responsibility activities, continuing its mission of serving the community: “Helping people live better, healthier lives”. Finally, the company’s leadership team will continuously transform and enrich knowledge, skills, and creative capacity to help Amway Vietnam always be successful.

With a solid foundation, the next step is a great opportunity for us to build business activities associated with community development in healthcare and beauty, to work together towards greater goals, be more solid, and contribute to creating a strong and prosperous Vietnam.
