Siemens Caring Hands donates medical equipment to hospitals
Siemens’ charity makes donation to hospitals in Hanoi and Hue to help fight Covid-19.
Siemens Caring Hands has donated a mobile X-ray system and an anesthesia system to two hospitals in Vietnam through non-profit DEVIEMED.
The hand-over ceremony for the MOBILETT Elara Max X-ray system took place at COVID-19 Hospital in Hanoi on October 20, attended by representatives from Siemens Vietnam, Siemens Healthineers, DEVIEMED, and the Hanoi Medical University Hospital.
“We are very worried and concerned about the severe damage caused by Covid-19 to Vietnam,” said Siemens ASEAN & Vietnam President and CEO Pham Thai Lai. “To minimize this, we would like to make a significant contribution to assisting as many people as possible. This timely donation will help alleviate the negative impact caused by the coronavirus on Vietnam’s medical system and improve access to healthcare, even after the pandemic.”
The donation is part of the global Siemens relief fund program managed by Siemens Caring Hands - a charitable association founded by Siemens AG in 2001. The fund was set up to provide support to relief organizations and medical facilities as well as to individuals impacted by the Covid-19 crisis worldwide.
It was submitted to Siemens Caring Hands by Siemens Vietnam and is being co-implemented with DEVIEMED - an established non-profit association of German and Vietnamese doctors, with technical support from Siemens Healthineers in Vietnam.

The Siemens Healthineers MOBILETT Elara Max is a lightweight and compact system that offers maximum mobility and positioning flexibility, even in tight spaces, with consistently high image quality. Thanks to its fast, secure, and seamless integration into IT networks, the machine allows access to relevant data whenever needed. It is expected to scan more than 100 patients a day.
“When treating Covid-19 patients, it is essential to have flexible and powerful machines that are always ready,” said Associate Professor Nguyen Lan Hieu, Director of the Hanoi Medical University Hospital. “The MOBILETT Elara Max mobile X-ray system is the perfect solution. With this contribution, Siemens has helped us increase resources that are needed for the diagnosis and treatment of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam.”
The anesthesia system, meanwhile, will be delivered to Hue Central Hospital next week, where it will be used to treat Covid-19 patients with underlying illnesses, and later children with congenital facial malformations, such as harelip and cleft palate, in the central region of Vietnam.
