As of October 1, Vietnam had provided VND15.3 trillion ($674.83 million) in support to 18.32 million people affected by Covid-19 and more than 156,300 tons of rice to 2.4 million households in 30 cities and provinces.
There are 330 businesses in Hanoi that have ceased operations because of Covid-19 and 1,486 that are affected but have continued operations. Some 7,237 workers in the capital have lost their jobs and 35,871 workers are underemployed.
Vietnam’s tourism real estate market has been hit hard by Covid-19, with transactions in resort projects almost coming to a standstill. Some hotels are operating with a skeleton staff or have closed, while others have been put up for sale.
Retail in Vietnam is struggling to cope with Covid-19 and many large supermarkets have already been closed for some time. Employees at supermarkets and other retailers should therefore be given priority in vaccination programs.
