The People's Committee of Dong Nai province in southern Vietnam has announced that construction on the upgrade and expansion of Le Duan Street in the former town of Long Thanh (now Long Thanh commune), which is part of the National Highway 51A, will commence in the near future.

The project targets the central section running through Long Thanh commune, a vital traffic artery that will provide a direct link to the planned Long Thanh airport urban area.

The existing Le Duan Street, with an average asphalt surface width of 11 meters, is currently too narrow to handle modern traffic demands. This leads to significant congestion and bottlenecks, particularly at major intersections and within the commercial heart of Long Thanh.

The comprehensive expansion project will cover a total length of nearly 5 km. It is a large-scale investment with an expected construction period of 12 months.

The infrastructure upgrade is a key strategic move in anticipation of the development of the Long Thanh airport city, which is positioned to become a major economic and service hub for Vietnam's southern region. The project is designed to significantly enhance transportation connectivity, streamline logistics, and attract further investment to the area.

Long Thanh commune was established through a merger of the former Long Thanh Town and the three former communes of Loc An, Binh Son, and Long An. The area is the site of the ongoing construction of Long Thanh International Airport, set to be the largest in the country. As a result, Dong Nai province has designated Long Thanh Commune as the "nucleus" for the future development of the airport-centric metropolis.
