More than VND5 trillion (over $190,580 million) will be invested in the construction of 21 new boarding schools in border communes of Nghe An province in central Vietnam.
The project aims to create better learning facilities for over 30,000 students in the province's most disadvantaged areas.
The initiative is part of a larger national strategy outlined in Announcement No. 81-TB/TW, dated July 18, 2025, from the Politburo, which approved the policy to build a system of inter-level (combined primary and lower secondary) boarding schools in 248 land border communes across the country.
These new schools are mandated to meet high standards for technical design, scale, and land area. They will be equipped with comprehensive facilities to support academic learning, cultural activities, and physical and mental development, while ensuring a safe living environment for all students.
This project represents the initial phase of a roadmap to establish standardized, high-quality school models in Vietnam's border regions. Expected to be completed within the next two to three years, these schools will serve as a blueprint for replication nationwide.
Currently, Nghe An has 21 border communes with 94 active schools, many of which were established after commune-level administrative mergers. These schools are located in remote, hard-to-reach areas where students face significant limitations in both learning and living conditions.
According to the investment plan, the new schools will be built in locations that can serve over 1,000 students each, have sufficient land for construction, and are suitable for organizing inter-level classes.
