Government and localities look at 2022 socio-economic plan

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired an online conference on January 5 between the government and localities to review work done last year and discuss the implementation of this year’s tasks, which is considered the most important annual meeting held to discuss the implementation of the annual socio-economic development plan on a national scale.

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, many Politburo members, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, and leaders of various political bodies at the central level also attended the conference at government headquarters, while Secretaries of Party Committees and Chairmen of People’s Committees of cities and provinces took part online.

In his remarks, Party General Secretary Trong requested that the tasks for 2022 be completed to create a basis for the successful implementation of the Resolution from the 13th Party Congress and the objective to develop a prosperous and powerful Vietnam.

Vietnam is estimated to have achieved or exceeded seven of 12 key socio-economic tasks in 2021, despite the pandemic. The achievements of last year provide a foundation for creating momentum for the implementation of the socio-economic development plan in 2022, with 15 tasks specified in Resolution No. 32/2021/QH15 from the National Assembly.

This year, according to Prime Minister Chinh, many internal and external risks may affect Vietnam, including the pandemic, lower demand, slower global economic growth, unsustainable budget revenues, and bad debt risks, among others.

Thus, the decisive factor in the implementation of the socio-economic development plan in 2022 is the effectiveness of responding to the pandemic and the ability to handle risks and overcome difficulties. The fact that Vietnam overcame a challenging 2021 is a reason to believe that the socio-economic achievements in 2022 will be even higher than those posted last year.
