The WKF was first held in 2000 in South Korea and has become an annual event since, facilitating knowledge sharing, reducing inequality, and promoting balanced global economic growth. Past speakers include world leaders such as US President George W. Bush, UK Prime Minister Theresa May, and French President Nicolas Sarkozy. Business figures such as Bill Gates, Larry Ellison, and George Soros have also contributed, along with leading economists like Larry Summers and Paul Krugman.

The forum is recognized for gathering together the most influential minds from politics, economics, technology, and academia globally.

World Knowledge Forum 2024: Promoting harmony and global cooperation

This year’s forum aimed to foster coexistence and mutual respect between countries for shared development. Key discussions centered on four major themes: international conflicts and geopolitics; the future of AI; sustainability and addressing climate change and energy; and business innovation, focusing on strategies for stability amid uncertainty.

Prominent attendees included Cambodia’s Senate President Hun Sen, former Argentine President Mauricio Macri, former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, and former Hungarian President Katalin Novák, among others.

Dr. Chang Dae-Whan, WKF founder and Chairman of the Maekyung Media Group, highlighted that this year’s forum took place in the midst of significant global uncertainty, with rapid technological advances reshaping daily life. “Now more than ever, we need collective wisdom to respect each other and work together to overcome conflicts of gender, generation, ideology, and culture,” he said.
