Hanoi aims for Vietnam's Top 2 in e-commerce by 2025

Hanoi aims to maintain its position as second or higher in the e-commerce index (EBI) nationwide in 2025 and following years, while simultaneously promoting the outstanding development of online retail.
According to the Vietnam E-commerce Index (EBI) 2024 report, released by the Vietnam E-commerce Association (VECOM), the capital city ranked second nationwide last year, with 84.3 points, behind Ho Chi Minh City with 87 points.
This year, Hanoi has set a target for B2C e-commerce revenue to account for 13% of the total retail sales of goods and consumer service value in the area, with the percentage of residents participating in online shopping reaching 55%.
Hanoi is actively transforming the operating models of retail stores, grocery stores, traditional markets, as well as handicraft villages based on digital technology and digital data. The city is focusing on forming linkages and end-to-end digital supply chains from goods distribution and warehouse management to business administration and commerce on digital channels.
In 2025, Hanoi will expand the consumption market for agricultural products, handicrafts, and OCOP products through e-commerce, promote cross-border transactions, with domestic and international markets connected.
